Mission StatementThe Alliance of Brunswick County Property Owners Association (ABCPOA) is a non-partisan association comprised of member Property Owners and Homeowners Associations throughout the county united by an interest in common issues. We are “issues-driven” and serve our members by developing and presenting positions regarding issues that are critical to the further development of Brunswick County, monitoring governmental officials’ positions and actions, and reporting results to our members.The Alliance serves as a forum for informational exchange among members, provides appropriate assistance to member organizations when requested and cooperates with like minded organizations when appropriate.
ABCPOA is dedicated to protecting homeowner rights and property values while assuring for safe neighborhoods and advancing an ever improving quality of life for all residents of Brunswick County.
ObjectivesThe following objectives are not listed in order of priority:1.      An ABCPOA Commissioners/Budget and Taxes subcommittee will monitor and evaluate the Brunswick County budget, budget process and fiscal policy and actions. The subcommittee may propose Position Statements after concluding assessments and analysis of each annual budget and other fiscal matters. 2.      The ABCPOA Planning Board/Zoning Evaluation Committee will continue its focus on matters of importance to ABCPOA members in the process of its activities to enhance county wide planning and zoning. It will also evaluate the role developer's should play in assuring adequate infrastructure to accommodate proposed development. Furthermore, the committee will continually encourage the Brunswick County Planning Board and staff to be strongly guided in their actions by the suggestions generated in the Brunswick Tomorrow study. With the Transportation Committee, an assessment will be made regarding the need and possible location of another airport in Brunswick County. 3.      Dynamic growth in Brunswick County underscores the need for careful attention to public safety issues. ABCPOA committees involved in public safety activities include Public Safety, Environmental Issues and Transportation. These committees will monitor and evaluate conditions, county actions and state proposals and may provide Position Statements regarding adequacy and efficacy of fire, police, EMS, traffic, roadways, public transportation, water quality and other related issues. 4.      The Transportation Committee must evaluate proposed NCDOT proposals to feed interstate traffic onto Route 17 and recommend appropriate ABCPOA action. The committee will also study the need for more public transportation and with the Planning Committee will provide a proposed course of action regarding the need for another Brunswick County airport. 5.      The Environmental Issues Committee will monitor and evaluate matters, conditions and actions which do or may impact soil, air, underground and surface water quality, including but not limited to landfills, waste disposal and storm water run-off. As in other committees, its Position Statements may suggest coordination initiatives within the ABCPOA, training, public information or other educational actions and coordinating efforts with appropriate officials or entities. 6.      The ABCPOA will continue to encourage all departments and officials in Brunswick County government to focus on and be guided by recommendations made in the Brunswick Tomorrow study.
